About me
Hello! I’m Yigit (pronounced as Yeat) Okar, an economist and an engineer who loves to combine economics, machine learning and AI. Currently wrapping up my Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Washington, under supervision of Prof. Yanqin Fan. During my PhD, I specialized in incorporating text as a data source to applied micro-econometrics. I also interned at Amazon a couple times as an economist where I worked on policy evaluation problems using causal inference. Before all of that, I studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Bogazici University, Istanbul.
